The sound system itself served only monitoring purposes for on-stage performers as well as other members of the production backstage and in remote locations. The fairly straight forward sound monitoring needs still required a fairly complex system due to the variety of locations that required sends from QLab and the stage. The sound and com system is shown in detail in the documents below.

One of the more complicated aspects of the system we designed was the video monitoring system. Since the production's end product would be released in the form of an on-demand video, the production team needed live video monitoring from the cameras during the filming process. We worked with the Arts Technology (responsible for filming and editing the final product) department to design a system that could effectively serve the needs of the choreographers, lighting designers, and other crew and advisors. The system (again, in detail below) took advantage of the video distribution installed in the venue as well as Zoom for remote viewing options for both convenience and COVID-related safety percausions.

Below are two dispersion plots that were created using d&b Audiotechnik's ArrayCalc software. They were used to aid in the process of designing the monitoring system for the on-stage dancers. Below are two options that were presented to the designer demonstrating the effect that different speakers would have on the stage coverage. The second option (E8s) was decided to provide better low-end coverage which would be essential when it considering the sound monitoring needs of dancers.

The first image shows the coverage of the whole stage using d&b E5s while the second image shows coverage for E8s in the same locations as before.

The final stage design moved the dancers upstage with masking hiding lighting booms from the camera. The plot was updated to reflect this change and give me and the designer a good idea of the system coverage on the stage throughout the process.
